Photo Essay - Night Garden with a poem "Evening" by Ranier Maria Rilke
The sky puts on the darkening blue coat
held for it by a row of ancient trees;
you watch: and the lands grow distant in your sight,
one journeying to heaven, one that falls;
and leave you, not at home in either one,
not quite so still and dark as the darkened houses,
not calling to eternity with the passion
of what becomes a star each night, and rises;
and leave you (inexpressibly to unravel)
your life, with its immensity and fear,
so that, now bounded, now immeasurable
it is alternately stone in you and star.
Rainer Maria Rilke, Evening

Very, very cool. Love the atmosphere to those images.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ice. I love those gardens. Watching them mature over the last fifteen years and now they look stunning.
ReplyDeleteLiz, how beautiful! Did you take those photos? I can imagine what it looks like during the day but what a romantic garden at night. My best friend growing up lived in Christchurch for a number of years, she is back here in the States now. I've always wanted to make the trip...all the photos I've seen make it some place I hope to visit one day. Christchurch is a little ways from Auckland though eh??
ReplyDeleteBest to you and the girls...thanks for your kind comments!
Blessings~

Hi Diane, Yes I took them. Too much the camera nut I think. Christchurch is in the South Island quite a big distance between Auckland and down there LOL. I have family living there - hate to admit it but I have yet to visit that part of the country. You'll like it. Lots of positive talk about Christchurch. That garden is stunning and I want to have one just like it. Dreams are free.
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you too
Liz
Lovely garden and photos of it! I especially like the BIG full moon-isn't it wonderful to see a moon like that? I'll have to post one I took of the moon the other night when it was so full-the picture doesn't really do it justice as there was a rainbow around it and it just looked so nice.
ReplyDeleteBlessings Always,
Leslie
Hi Leslie,
ReplyDeleteThat moon was AWESOME I think the poem bu Rumi fitted the image perfectly. Glad you like the garden. I'll have to find some images of it during daylight hours. I want a garden just like it and one day I will have one. Lots of work to go yet.
Love Liz
